The future of my phpBB templates
Many of you have asked me about the future of my templates for phpBB and when they will be ported to phpBB 3, the next version of the popular forum system. After much thinking and considering of my own priorities, I have found two ways to go ahead but I need your feedback. Please read this post and post your own thoughts as comments.
All my styles will be upgraded for phpBB 3
Update: I have been forced to reconsider this decision, please see this post for more information.
I have been very busy recently as work and personal commitments have taken precedence which is why updates have been lacking. However due to the recent announcement about the first phpBB3 beta release I thought I should issue some kind of statement regarding what I'll do about my styles. They will all be upgraded, and it will be done in order of popularity, meaning Solaris will be the first style to be upgraded.
phpBB 2.0.21 is released but introduces no template changes
More template design guide updates, more info on .cfg files
After publishing the last two parts of the guide I realized there was not much written about cfg-files and what they're used for so I added another chapter to the guide. This chapter, called "Some .cfg file magic", explains how .cfg-files work and how you can use them to create some cool effects.
The phpBB Template Design Guide updated
The phpBB Template Design Guide was updated today and the last two parts were added. Parts four and five cover some common questions, problems, general advice as well instructions on how to export, distribute and support your template. I've tried to share the things I've learnt over the years I've been working with phpBB and designing as well as releasing templates.
