Related Nodes - my first Drupal module
Many blogs list related blog entries as "Related Articles", however currently this isn't something that Drupal supports, nor could I find a module that does. It seemed I would have to write my own module, so yesterday I started working on what was to become my first Drupal module. It's called 'Related Nodes'.
When is "humor" actually humor and when is it racist?
Talking to my friend Bexx who lives in this US, and can be seen posting here at my site now and then, she showed a picture of tshirt she perceived as being racist, perpetuating stereotypes about native Americans. This made me recall the recent and similar political debate and media storm regarding the caricatures posted in the press containing a derogatory depiction of the prophet Mohammad. What should be considered racist and what should not?
Help me make it into the web design book
Can web designers truly make a difference?
As living beings, we are born, we grow up, live and die. During that period of time many of us would like to produce something that outlives us, and almost everyone wants to impact others such as family, friends and lovers. Some of us think the world is unfair and wish to do something about it, but can you do that, regardless of your profession? I believe you can and I'll tell you why, from my point of view as a web designer.
Instant Messaging, neither written nor verbal, and why that can be a problem
I am composing a paper about instant messaging (IM) and chat, two modes of communication that are becoming more and more popular today. Unfortunately I have caught a cold so things have been delayed, and I've been required to stay indoors, rest and drink tea, I hope to make a speedy recovery and get it done. Regardless, it's a very interesting and relevant topic, I don't know many people who don't have an IM account and use it daily so I was hoping maybe you, my dear blog readers might share your views and bring some more insight.
Sketching and typing, the benefits of a notepad like input format
The primary way to store information on computers and digital media today is in text form and the reasons for this are traditional, it's easy to search and store text and it takes up little space. Stepping outside the traditional and limited sign systems of the digital era, allowing users to introduce their own signs, drawings and diagrams, seamlessly with typed text, will emulate the properties of traditional paper based media and add semantic richness to digital content.
Piracy and its legal consequences in a psychopathic world
Browsing my regular website for news related to the Internet and information technologies, idg.se, I came across a reference to these articles about the revised DMCA that would introduce penalties of up to ten years in prison for attempting piracy, far more than the sentences for assault, robbery and rape, a clear indication of how mega corporations look upon the human worth as compared to it of money.
