Technology Recycler
Technology Recycler offers an easy way to get rid of old tech junk. The intention of the redesign was to create site that was pleasing to the eye, simple and easy to understand and which would also encourage people to recycle more.
Taking a methodological approach to the design case, I applied several interaction design techniques. I started out by identifying the typical user, and based on that created a general user persona which was used to establish the user's goals. These goals were later used in the design of the website itself, its structure and appearance in order to give the website and its information as much impact as possible.
Key features:
- The recycling cycle logo at the top, known to almost everyone these days, is a clear clue as to what this page is about.
- The four photos at the top tell all you need to know, four simple steps, scanning the page you'll see these right away.
- Clear and bright colors beckons the user's attention and the structure of the content delineating a visual flow encourages the user to further explore, filling in the form.
- Anyone who doesn't know why recycling one's old technology junk is such a great idea will soon find out by zooming in on the right hand column which also outlines the pick-up areas for the recycling centers.
