Second batch of designs for Webbredaktren
This is the second batch of designs I've made for Webbredaktren, designs that show a new variety of colors, patterns and shapes, designed to suit the needs of different types of organizations and customers.
These designs are so called mockups, or mockup designs. A mockup is an image of what a site hosted and set up by them could potentially look like. Consider someone selling a house or apartment, then it is crucial to give a good impression of the place while at the same time point at the possibilites and how you can change it to your liking. These mockup designs are exactly like that, they are just there to offer ideas and to be a reference design when the actual implementation of the site begins.
While making mockups requires a constant flux of ideas and inspiration, it also allows a lot of freedom to try new ideas concepts and work these into your design. While there are normative constraints, a design cannot be too unconventional or its market value will be affected, the fact that implementation is not necessary makes it possible to think a bit more outside the box, and I'm not rehashing an old sales clich, I am actually talking about the box model which every modern browser works by.
Creating web design that does not look as if it conforms to box design can be done but requires effort and the designer must be able to think about the design, and only the design. The implementaton is a later problem to solve. This kind of mindset frees your creativity and allows you to commit to ideas that you may have been hesitant to entertain under other circumstances. Essentially, breaking the limits of what can be done in web design requires a real non-web ability to think about design which is a challenge in this field of work, and I tend to enjoy challenges.
